Here at Woodborough we are big advocates of home baking and are delighted that more and more people are trying their hand at making their own cakes and bread. Our Strawberry Fair on June 23 will be a great opportunity for people to pick their own strawberries and use them in everything from puddings to jam. For the first time we are also holding a cookery contest and have a top judge from the WI to decide who has produced the best Victoria sponge, fruit scones or strawberry jam. Local WI members have been invited to take part but we would like keen bakers from across the Pewsey Vale to also get involved. If you are interested email info@woodboroughgardencentre.co.uk
Sausages will be sizzling away all weekend at Woodborough Garden Centre on May 26 and 27 when a special tasting event is held. Sausages made from pork produced from the centre's own pigs will be available to try. They come in a number of different flavour combinations - the latest being a tangy Toulouse variety. Also being showcased will be the many different sauces and relishes the centre sells to compliment the sausages.

Here at Woodborough we are inviting local primary schools to take part in a competition to create a garden in a wheelbarrow. We will supply schools with a wheelbarrow, compost and seeds and then it will be up to them to create a mini garden with either an Olympic or Queen's Diamond Jubilee theme. If your school would like to enter email info@woodboroughgardencentre.co.uk
Expert Helen Yemm will be taking questions from the audience when she talks at Woodborough on May 17. Tickets to hear the author of the Thorny Problems column in the Telegraph are now on sale at £12 each. For more information ring 01672 851249.

I have decided there is no point worrying about the weather any longer and just to push on with everything we have got planned. We have been working very hard to make the plants look as beautiful as possible and I am very pleased with the results. Another bit of good news is that we are to become radio stars. I am delighted that Wiltshire Radio has agreed to do a regular slot from the centre between 2pm and 4pm on a Saturday for the next ten weeks. So make sure you tune in. I wasn't sure about being interviewed myself but have decided I should but I am still thinking about what the subject should be. Don't foget you can also read the regular Woodborough gardening feature every week in the Gazette and Herald - we are on the back of the Weekend section.
