What's in Season
Our Strawberries are ready for picking now!
See below for more information. |

Pick Your Own (PYO)
Fruit and vegetables come no fresher than when you pick them yourself!
From April to October Woodborough Garden Centre has 17 acres of crops exclusively for pick your own harvesting.
Fruits and vegetables can be picked throughout the warmer months and many new varieties of certain crops mean that they are available for a greatly extended season. Nowadays, for instance, strawberries, raspberries and many vegetables can be picked from early summer, right through September, until the first frosts. |

Keep an eye on our PYO
Calendar to watch for your favourites to come into
season.
Strawberries - try out our fantastic "table top"
system - the plants are watered and fed several times each day
giving top quality, clean and consistent fruit, all at waist-height.
This enables the less supple customer to continue to enjoy the fun
of PYO!
Raspberries - a wide range of summer and autumn
fruiting varieties including Tulameen, Octavia, Glen Ample and our
own Woodborough variety. Picking from June to August.
Other Soft Fruits - we have Blackberries and
Gooseberries, Redcurrants, Blackcurrants, Tayberries and Blueberries.
Vegetables - PYO Runner Beans, Broad Beans, Peas,
French Beans and Rhubarb are available, as well as ready-picked
Asparagus. We have recently planted a Victorian Kitchen Garden into the site where we grow our own Courgettes, Peas, Spinach, Beans, Tomatoes and speciality potatoes for sale in the shop. Pumpkins are also available, from the end of October through November.
Daffodils - Established in Victorian times as a specialist Daffodil nursery, Woodbough is still known for our Fields of Gold - there are at least 8 varieties of daffodil and narcissi for Pick Your Own in March and it's a tradition amongst locals to gather up armfuls of flowers in time for Mothers Day and Easter, through to the beginning of May.
Flowers - whilst not PYO we do also grow
Gladioli, Tulips, Sweet Peas and Wallflowers, and we are developing
other crops of traditional cottage garden cutting flowers such as
Cornflowers, Larkspur and Sunflowers.
All crops are easily accessible, with free parking
nearby. Pick little and often to enjoy produce at its tastiest and
healthiest, and don't forget our wonderful fresh Guernsey cream,
crème fraiche and yoghurts to go with your fruit, or the range of
New Forest ice creams we stock! |
